Welcome to PrimaryWeb
"Our home for web-based resources grades K-3"

Our Mission:
To provide web-based resources to primary school teachers in a variety of subject areas.
Web-based learning is a classroom-based intergrated curriculum that allows students to use Internet technologies to retrieve information and resources that are appropriate for the learner. Web-based learning makes it possible to extend teaching and learning way beyond information retrieval to exploratory learning and knowledge building.
As a K-3 teacher, it is not always an easy task to incorporate technology into your classroom. That is why here at PrimaryWeb we hope to provide you with a wide variety of resources including lesson plans, links to subject specific activities, assessment tools, and curriculum enhancing websites. These activities have their roots in problem-based learning, collaborative learning, case based learning, as well as inquiry or discovery learning.
This site also provides students and parents with additional resources in subject areas.
Language Arts:
For an elementary child, the curriculum needs to be mainly focused on literacy and language activities. Language arts is largely about leading students to become literate in their own voices and to see writing as a tool for thinking. Young children need to explore the world of literacy through questioning, collaborating, and problem solving. The Language Arts page illustrates three main learning methods that can be integrated into the elementary language arts curriculum.
Science:
Science is a subject that needs hands-on activities as an integral part of the curriculum. Web-based instruction is a great way to enhance learning in a science classroom. It is a great way to integrate other subject areas also. On the science page you will find webquests, online games, lesson plans, and other tools to aide you in science instruction. It covers different types of learning methods and is separted by these methods of learning.
Math:
A large number of resrouces to help enhance teaching mathematics are now available online. Many of these resources are for free, which makes it convenient for teachers, parents, and students. Programs online are availalbe for students to help teach them a skill, to promote exploration and discovery, to offer a virtual interactive way to use manipulatives to solve problems, and to simulate certain activities. You will find these types of resources on the Math page.
Social Studies:
Social Studies is a broad topic spanning many different topics including community, government, history, and many more. There are also many ways that social studies can be used along with other subjects. Because of these reasons, it lends itself well to online activities such as webquests, project-based learning and interactive activities and games. Through my research I have identified several sites and activities that offer the kind of activities that enhance learning and provide real life activities that will hopefully allow students to connect ideas and make connections to their own lives. Check out the Social Studies for more information.
